What makes Transylvania so varied and diversified is its multiculturalism. It ranges from traditional Romanian wooden churches in Maramures to beautiful, typical Saxon villages in the south, to the Szekely (Hungarian) fortresses in the Carpathian Curvature, making Romania simply amazing!

We are local to Transylvania, so don't hesitate to ask us for any recommendations or tips as you plan your holiday. We have chosen and selected each of our accommodations personally and also know the best insider tips about where to stay, eat, and visit! We are your local connection!

Meet the Team

Meet the team of Wens Tour Travel Agency. First you must know something about Transylvania- there are a multitude of ethnicities: Romanian, Hungarian, German and Romany. This team was built up from Melinda, who is Hungarian, and Ioana, who is Romanian.

They both come from Transylvania, but from different regions and met each other in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania, putting their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm together.

Ioana comes from a touristic area, and though she studied management during college, after developing several volunteering activities on environmental issues, she became passionate about tourism and decided to embrace this as an occupation.

Melinda's interest in tourism started when she decided to study at the Geography and Tourism University in Cluj Napoca. During college she had the great chance to be part of the exchange program Centurio Interreg IIIC Project, in Finland, with professionals from other countries where she learnt from experienced people about sustainable and responsible tourism.

The two met each other a few years ago finding two very important qualities in common- they both adore working in the tourism business and are both completely passionate about cooking!

So together they have made perfect combinations of traditional Romanian and Hungarian dishes, in naughty and creative ways like:

    -   Hungarian kurtoskalacs - Romanian cheese dumpling papanasi
    -   Gulyas - beef soup (ciorba de burta)
    -   Plum palinka - traditional brandy (tuica)
    -   Cabbage filled with rice and meat - polenta with cheese

Besides being "kitchen devils", they both enjoy the variety of the tourism industry, while supporting the local and rural communities. They love meeting new people and sharing experiences (and culinary recipes!).

What We Do

"We feel like a new born child who waits impatiently for taking his first steps.."

We are active in promoting and supporting our community and include small accommodation units near cities, instead of big urban hotels. We also employ local guides in our tours and involve as much local facilities (accommodation, food, transportation) as possible.

Our Wens Tour team collaborate and sustain many positive projects, such as The Golden Way- promoting historical patrimony, The Limestone Trail- promoting natural preservation and intend to integrate in our program all the Green Ways of Romania. We also intend to make a network of craftsmanship and employ the local craftsmen for making live demonstrations for the travellers.

Wens Tour Travel Agency
was founded in 1997 and started its activity by selling airplane tickets. In 2000, the agency received its IATA accreditation and in the following years it developed internal and external tourism compartments, as well as event organizing department.

Tourism increased in Romania after the year of 1989, when communism regime finished, but a remarkable increase in this industry was registered in the second half of the ‘90s. Since this time, figures in tourism increased annually, with a medium rate of 10%.

Feel free to ask us for any for any tips or recommendations as you plan your trip to our spectacular destination! We are your local connection!
