Guesthouse Biertan is located in the middle of Biertan, which is not far from Sighisoara and Medias. It is one of the first German settlements and a stunning example of preservation in Transylvania!
Biertan is known for its handicrafts and wines. The magnificent Church of Mary in the middle of the village was restored in 1943 and in 1993 it was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The guesthouse is part of the Mihai Eminescu Trust, dedicated to supporting Transylvania's cultural heritage and the conservation of Transylvanian and Saxon villages.
In 2001, the guesthouse underwent a difficult and massive restoration that took three years to complete. It also has a craft shop on its premises!
You can enjoy a traditional lunch or dinner, made with homegrown products, using century-old recipes. From the craft shop (which is part of the kitchen) you can find objects of the local culture that you can buy.
