Archita Guesthouse is a century-old Saxon manor house in the old and charming Saxon village of Archita, in the middle of Transylvania. Although renovated last year, the century-old house still keeps its original characteristics.
Initially, its German inhabitants named the village Ercud in the 14th century. The name, Archita comes from the Hungarian word that means ‘arch' in English. Like all Saxon villages in Transylvania, Archita also has a fortified church which still keeps six of its original nine towers as well as two of the walls.
Originally, around 800 years ago, the population living in the village was German; today, it is made up of a mixture of German, Romanian and Roma villagers. To make a living, people breed animals, work the land or work in the city of Sighisoara (which is only 21 km away).
The guesthouse is enchanting with many relaxation areas: two common rooms that are comfy and warm, a massive oak deck and outdoor spaces. The building also provides a dining room, where three meals are served daily. Meals can also be served outside on the oak deck (weather permitting).
